Break Time
When do students want to get out of school the most?
Imagine you’re a student and you can time-travel to a break you want to go to. I know students wait until a break like a kid before 5 hours of video games with a friend, but they do have their own favorite break. Which one do you think the students love the most?
The first break we get for the school year is the fall break. During the fall break, the weather seems to be at its best, with the cool fall temperatures just arriving. A couple of weeks before the break was full of tests. When our parents are saying, “Why are you guys getting a break? You only did some assignments and tests!”, then you can brag about your experiences about your bio test, Alice in Wonderland, and the band concert. It also includes Thanksgiving, so I recommend eating turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie with your family.
Secondly, the winter break. Imagine this, on the last day before winter break, you finish the last assignment and you go back home. You make a hot-chocolate for yourself with marshmallows on top. Then, you just sit down on your couch and binge-watch a series you wanted to watch. Isn’t it great? I believe the winter break is for taking a rest from school assignments and going on a chill trip with no active activities and just going to some chill parks!
Thirdly, the spring break. The most recent break before the spring break was 2 months before that, so many students would be tired from the grammar tests, poster project, or the CERERER (Claim Evidence Reasoning Evidence Reasoning Evidence Reasoning) assignments. According to Advanced Behavioral Health Inc, “Neuroscientists have found that continuous exposure to stress can alter your brain structure and lead to mental health issues like depression and anxiety.” I think the spring break is also good for a mental break, because I went to Honolulu, Hawaii last spring break and all we did was surfing and snorkeling.
Lastly, the most important break for most of the students, the summer break! Almost every student loves summer break because they feel proud when they think they’re done with a school year. Especially the people who graduate elementary school, middle school, or high school. For example, My brother graduated from UMS middle school last year, and he said that he’s so proud of himself for graduating, and now he’s loving Leigh High School. Also, people go to their hometowns to see their family, or to go on a long trip to a different country. My family goes to Korea every year to see my grandparents, and to have fun doing sleepovers with my old friends. I think the summer break is the best because it’s the longest.
However, there are some problems with them for the same reasons as the good reasons. Students don’t know what to do for their whole break. All they do is just play video games or text messages. If they don’t know what to do, they lose their routine and suddenly get unhealthier and lose social skills because they’re not talking to their friends. Schools also have P.E everyday, so if they don’t play outside, students might not face the sun, and not get enough Vitamin D’s. So, I suggest going to a summer camp or something like that.
These breaks always give a mental break and heals you from tough tests and assignments. For some breaks, we can also go to different states or countries. Since I’m a student, I think that breaks are good to chill and relax too. However, there are some problems for not doing things that you do in school. So if you want to stay healthy? Just hop off your device and play outside!
